Voxel Art - Waterfall Valley

Image
This is the biggest project I've finished so far (More of the same coming soon) Conception After watching many of William Santacruz's voxel art  videos on youtube, I decided to look up what program he used. After finding out that it was free, I decided to try it out myself. The first voxel art I made was this waterfall. It's not that great, but it did spark an interest in voxel art even more. After making the waterfall, I started working on another voxel art project about Rand (which I've made a post about here ). After finishing that, I decided to try and make a better waterfall. An idea came to my head to try and derive it off pixel art (credit to Mamaru for the awesome pixel art ). Starting out Starting out, the idea was quite a bit different from the final product. I though I'd make it look like a full scene. In reality, it would just be an illusion. This could work because of positioning of the camera in the pixel art (

Post news, Two graphic design books and Future projects.

A new update! (This isn't going to be a huge update but some things need to be said) Post news I have two new posts coming very soon detailing my two latest projects. The first will be about my most recent project I finished, my newest voxel art. It's going to be structured a bit differently than usual just because I will be showing off my process in a bit more detail. The second will be my biggest project, the website concept. This post has been put off because I haven't decided how to make the post work. Since it's such a vast project and it's still being currently worked on, it won't be the only post I'll make about it. Since I've been working on it before I made the blog, I'll need to talk about all the stuff I've made up to this point. It would be a safe bet to say that the voxel art post will be coming this week or next week. Regarding the website concept post, I don't really know yet. Two graphic design books I recentl

Pixel Art - Dark Witch

Image
This is my first attempt at animating a sprite (I watched a video that inspired me) This is the idle animation This is the walking animation And finally, this is the attacking animation The process After watching a youtube video about animating game sprites, I was inspired to try it out myself. It was a bit hard to figure out how to make everything consistent and fluid. The way I made it work was to make a layer behind the robe that was a rough skeleton of the witch. After animating the skeleton, I animated the robe to fit the movements. This worked really well and made everything consistent and not look like it was breaking some bones in the process. Overview This is my best sprite I've made so far and was so much fun to make. I'm so glad I tried to make a sprite animation. This has definitely honed my overall skill with animation, but I still need to work on the sprites themselves. Overall I'm super happy with the animations, but

Icons - Seven Days Of Programs

Image
I made all of these logos in 3 days (And while on a trip) These are all the logos in the calendar format  This is the way the calendar worked This is the stopwatch icon This is the random capitalizer icon This is the rainbow letter generator icon This is the letter counter icon This is the python web crawler icon This is the wiki title grabber icon This is the datacrypt icon The process Stopwatch : This is my favorite out of them all. This icon was probably the easiest to come up with, it being explicitly what the program is. This is also the one that helped me come up with the unified look. Random Capitalizer : This being the last one I made, I probably didn't work as hard on it as I should've. I still think it came out pretty well. This pretty simple idea conveys the point well enough. Rainbow Text Generator : This is one of the hardest logos I've tried to make. I know it doesn't seem
